Rowing with Lyme Regis Gig Club

The Gig Club aims is to offer its Members the opportunity to row as ‘Club Rowers’ as a way of keeping fit and having fun or as ‘Squad Rowers’ who also train hard to compete. The objective is to offer a balanced rowing programme for all, but at the same time to be a winning racing club. Club rowing is for those wishing to row for fun or to get fit or just to enjoy the beautiful coastline from another angle!

Would you like to learn to row?

We run a Learn to Row programme to introduce new rowers to the club, however due to Covid we have a lot of people currently on our list to join a coure ansd therefore the waiting list is currently closed until further notice.

We run a session on Wednesday mornings with the focus being on non-competitive rowing. We mainly include beginners, those who want to develop their basic skills and people who want to get initial experience of coxing in a supportive environment. If this applies to you, or you are usually unable to row at weekends, you are very welcome to join us while the weather permits.

How do new members book a row?

Once your membership has been processed you will be sent, via email, an invitation to register with Teamsnap, the club rowing programme, where all rowers can book their future place in a gig for a Saturday, Sunday, or Midweek. Please note your availability must be registered a week prior to rowing to enable the captains to compile the rota.

Contact: the membership secretary for further information.

Intraclub Racing

For any Club rower wishing to experience the thrill of a race we hold intraclub racing once a month which is open to all rowers. Intraclub racing is a fun event where boats of mixed ability rowers race over a short distance. Rowers compete in a league with prizes awarded at the end of the season to the rower who amasses the most points. This event has proven hugely popular with our membership and is a great way to meet and mix with all club members. Register availability on Teamsnap.
